EMBLEM and PLEDGE

The Warrior.

Admiring the uncompromising loyalty and courage of the warrior to his or her pledge lord--even in the face of otherwise debilitating fear in battle--we adopted from the heritage of Asia the emblem of a warrior as the mark of our practice. We believe that lawyers and their firms are also called upon to be loyal warriors who in spite of fear and obstacles are dedicated to the zealous representation of their clients.

Our emblem depicts a blossom diagonally crossed by swords.

The Swords.

The swords symbolically represent wisdom and integrity, because they cut through uncertainty and ignorance and clear the way for authentic understanding. Such understanding requires a trust that comes only through impeccable integrity. We believe that because "creed and deed are one" a lawyer's actions must match his or her words.

The Blossom.

The flower on the emblem is a camellia. While in full bloom, the camellia blossom drops to the ground, reminding of the transience of life and the importance of being powerfully engaged in every moment. Only then can one be at one's best and fully serve.

The blossom also symbolizes abundance. From our own abundance, we dedicate a portion of our practice to pro bono representation of those who could not otherwise afford quality legal service, yet beyond reason seek something better.

Finally, the juxtaposition of the powerful swords against the delicate flower symbolizes the importance of balance. We see our clients as human beings being human. We realize that our clients are like us. Keeping that in mind allows us to use our legal and business training to empathetically serve our clients.
